Facilitator and Counselor

Amanda Reddick

Amanda is an experienced facilitator and counselor. She is the Program Coordinator for Soul Strong, a program for at-risk Black males. She has a background in Peace and Conflict Studies which compliments her passion for community building and social justice. In the past, Amanda was Program Coordinator for the Canadian Centre for Diversity and was a men’s counselor with New Start Counselling. Amanda is a certified Dialogue for Peaceful Change Mediator – a community conflict mediation program., a member of the Black Leadership Advisory Committee and the Program Resource Group at the Tatamagouche Centre – an education and retreat Centre that supports community groups and social movements in the Maritimes.

Coach & Inclusion Expert

Cathy Grant Gerrior

Cathy has worked with the New Leaf Program for 17 years. New Leaf provides an opportunity for men to take responsibility for their abusive behaviour and to effect social change so that the underlying power imbalances no longer exist. Cathy has been a member of the Peace and Friendship project for over 12 years. This project works to create bridges between Indigenous and non-native communities through education, cross cultural experiences and ceremony. Cathy is also the daughter of a residential school survivor. Her mother, from Spotted Island, Labrador, was taken to a residential school at the age of 3 when her father died in a storm. Cathy speaks clearly about the impact and continual harm caused by racism and exclusion.

Ishbel Munro

Ishbel is a Certified Mediator through Henson College. She trained in the Dialogue for Peaceful Change (DPC) methodology in Northern Ireland. Ishbel was the Program Director at Tatamagouche Centre and the Executive Director of Coastal Communities Network. She brings a range of experience working in community development, with First Nations, fishermen, youth and women.

Mohamed Yaffa

Mohamed is an educator, mediator, trainer and a strategist. He is experienced in leading strategy development, policy and educational programs. Currently working with Nova Scotia Health Authority as the Talent and Organizational Development Consultant for Diversity and Inclusion, he provides support for managers and staff as well as strategic leadership for implementing the organization’s priorities in the area of Diversity and Inclusion. Mohamed worked for the Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS) for six years, supporting recent immigrants in their integration process and educating community service providers on strategizing and providing support for newcomers. Mohamed is a leader in the Muslim and Black communities in Nova Scotia and is part of several committees, boards and groups.

Conflict Mediator

Stephen Law

Stephen is an internationally certified mediation coach in Dialogue for Peaceful Change. He has offered trainings in Northern Ireland, India and North America. He was the past chair of Peace Brigades International and has trained international accompaniers in conflict areas around the world. Stephen has mediated conflicts in community-based organizations, family structures and cooperative social enterprises and offered programming which builds bridges between groups, communities and organizations. Stephen was the Social Transformation Program Coordinator with the Tatamagouche Centre and is an Associate of the Coady International Institute where he has taught the Community-Based Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding course at St. Francis Xavier University. He designed and delivered the Welcoming Ambassador Program to support the integration and inclusion of Syrian newcomers to Nova Scotia.
